heres my dilemma. im 18 my ma is 47 im currently going into my second year as a senior in high school due to the district fucking me on my creds. my ma cant work cuz she has a slipped disc pinching a nerve on or near her brainstem making her unable to work. she is over $1.5k behind in rent and every little thing that can go wrong does in terms of her getting some type of emergency money. story of her life. its as if her financial life is cursed. the landlord has been more than graceful waiting for her to get the $, month after month. i believe he is done waiting as he doesnt answer her calls anymore and my poor ma is litterally working herself to the brink of death just to try and break even with no success. the latest attempt is she is holding a cookout friday to try and make some cash. i expect her to maybe make $200 profit after the food costs. i dont wanna be homeless and i dont want her to keep pushing herself. plz help. i kno the obvious answer is for me to get a job but remember im in school and any job i get wont be enough.

As much as I see that you want to help your mother, the first thing that you need to realize is that this is part of your mothers life; you can't take responsibility for her misgivings even if it does impact your life. On the other hand, I question where her family is? Isn't there anyone else that can help either financially or other? Even with this "cookout" event, your still going to have to deal with the same thing in the months ahead; yes breaking the cycle of what seems to be wrong in your mothers life is the answer but she needs to also be addressing this, not you... I'm sorry that this isn't the answer you must have been looking for but apart from receiving money from peoples, this problem will not be answered or taken care of on this website...sorry..

You could try this website to see if she could qualify for any government benefits to try to help www.benefitscheckup.org Also, may government offices have a homelessness prevention program that will pay a month or two of back rent to help people avoid eviction. Check your city or county's department of housing. Some churches also help with back rent payments. If you belong to a church, try there. Third, your instinct about getting a job yourself is right. If you are 18 or 19, then you can easily get a job working nights and weekends where you at least take home $100 a week. It's not a huge amount, but if you were to give your mom half ($200 a month), or at least use your earnings to pay all your own expenses, that would be a relief to her, and give you some extra spending money as well. So, go ahead and get a job.
